Practical HR support for the situations that matter
HR isn't always about having a big handbook or ticking every box.
Sometimes it's a difficult conversation you don't know how to approach. Sometimes it's an employee issue that's starting to take up too much time. Sometimes you need to get your contracts and policies in order, or understand how best to support a neurodivergent employee.
And sometimes you just need someone you can pick up the phone to and ask, “What do we do about this?”
That's where I come in.
I provide practical HR and Employee Relations support to small and growing businesses, helping you deal with people issues fairly, confidently and in a way that works for your business.
How I can help

Employee Relations Support
When an employee situation becomes difficult, it can be hard to know what to do next
I can support you with:
-
Disciplinary and capability matters
-
Grievances and complaints
-
Workplace investigations
-
Performance concerns
-
Difficult conversations
-
Conduct and behavioural concerns
-
Settlement discussions and agreed exits
-
Advice on fair, proportionate and defensible next steps
The aim isn't to rush straight into a formal process. It's to understand what's happening, consider the options and help you choose the right way forward.

Neurodivergence-Informed Employee Relations
When neurodivergence is part of an Employee Relations matter, the process may need a little more thought. I support employers with ER cases involving neurodivergent employees, helping them manage the situation fairly while considering reasonable adjustments and potential barriers.
This can include:
-
Disciplinary, grievance, capability and performance processes
-
Considering reasonable adjustments to the ER process
-
Advising managers on communication and meeting arrangements
-
Understanding whether neurodivergence may be contributing to workplace difficulties
-
Considering when a Workplace Needs Assessment or Occupational Health referral may be appropriate
-
Supporting employers to manage the risk of disability discrimination and failure to make reasonable adjustments
The aim isn't to lower standards or avoid difficult conversations. It's about making sure the process is fair, accessible and gives everyone a proper opportunity to participate.

Workplace Needs Assessments
A Workplace Needs Assessment can help you understand the barriers a neurodivergent employee may be experiencing at work and what practical changes could make a difference.
I look at the individual, their role and the working environment, alongside the manager's perspective, to identify realistic and role-specific adjustments.
A diagnosis is not always necessary to explore workplace barriers. The focus is not on assessing whether someone is fit for work or lowering performance standards. It's about understanding what may be getting in the way and what support may help the employee work more effectively.
Assessments can be particularly useful:
-
Before starting a formal performance or capability process
-
When an employee is struggling despite having the skills to do the role
-
When communication, workload, organisation or sensory barriers are affecting work
-
When managers are unsure what adjustments may be appropriate

HR Support
Whether you're setting up your HR foundations or dealing with something you've never come across before, I can provide advice that is practical and tailored to your business.
Support can include:
-
Employment contracts
-
HR policies and procedures
-
Staff handbooks
-
Employment law guidance
-
Advice for managers and business owners
-
Support with new starters and employment changes
-
Reviewing existing HR arrangements
-
Helping you understand what needs attention and what can wait
I don't believe in giving small businesses a pile of generic documents that don't reflect how they actually work. Your HR should be useful, understandable and appropriate for the size and needs of your business.
Flexible Ways to Work With Me
HR support doesn't have to be all or nothing. You might need a few hours of advice, help with a particular project or someone you can rely on for ongoing support.
I offer a few different ways to work together:
Ad hoc HR support
Need some advice or help with a particular situation? I can work with you on an hourly or day-rate basis, without an ongoing commitment.
One-off projects
If you have a specific piece of work that needs doing, we can agree a fixed fee upfront. This could include reviewing your HR arrangements, putting contracts and policies in place, supporting a particular ER matter or another defined HR project.
Monthly HR retainers
If you want someone on hand for ongoing advice and support, monthly retainers start from £250 per month. You get a consistent point of contact who gets to know your business and can help you deal with issues before they become bigger problems.
You don't need to know which option is right for you before you get in touch. We can have a conversation about what you need and work out the most sensible way to support you.
